Polarized smolarized, traditional American political theater depends on identity politics reigning supreme so how is that the strangest of bedfellows are now gleefully frolicking under the sheets? Staunch believers in the infallible differences between Democrats and Republicans would never stand for the slightest erosion of their hard-fought DMZ so what could possibly unleash the thaw needed to squelch the fury? Fear of course, the tried and true framer of obedience, paranoia, and destruction. The midwife of war usually presents outwardly by murderous rampage but this time the call is for retreat. Retreat to collective dementia and total annihilation of perspective. An unprecedented global united front has normalized totalitarianism down to the level of cute kitten videos.
The isms are now completely interchangeable working together to build the trophy that they ultimately will fight to the death over. The superstate utopia fallacy has become the guiding principle of all the famous and infamous isms demented power brokers have come to rely on. The Democrats are rapidly becoming indistinguishable from communists and the Republicans are happily flying various fascist flags without the slightest wry smile among them. Oligarchy - check, Plutocracy - check, Marxism - check, Kleptocracy - check, Socialism - check, Militarism - check, Corporatism - wait for it, check. What is it that they all have in common? What is the secret sauce welding them all together into a champagne popping winners circle of Authoritarian bliss?
FREE MONEY
Yup, that’s it. Nothing else matters on a grand scale. Free money is the ultimate enabler of all the nefarious isms that would never see the light of day (at scale) otherwise. When Central Banks handed politicians the keys to the treasury, they proceeded to do exactly what any brain-dead coma patient knew they would do, promise the voters every shiny buckle on the christmas list. Of course their masters demanded their usual lion's share, so as long as the majority of the take went out the back door to wall street and cronies, everybody was happy in the land of make believe. Sounds good to me, why not keep the party going and stop being a buzzkill? I hear ya, trouble is due to the COVID catalyst with trillions going out the front door and the back door, the damn is now broken and the USD chickens will not be coming home to roost. Economic ruin that was certainly inevitable is now locked and loaded and just around the corner.
There are so few people questioning the reckless abandon of every central bank on earth, it would be hard to put together a one-car funeral for a decent burial of individual freedom. All problems are solved by government, no problem is too small for massive government intervention, government is infallible, my own good has never been so happy. Abject silence is the code among profligates, mention the cost side of the ledger at your peril. Free endless wars, free loans, free bailouts, free school, free housing, free food, free money. We are truly the land of the free and the home of the delusional. We have conquered economics by simply refusing to pay for anything without a peep from the piper. So what could go wrong? Just the total destruction of civilization as we know it when the dollar collapses but who's counting. A complete reset to sound money principles is actually very desirable and certainly inevitable. The sooner the better as in, cut off the arm to save the patient, but the scale is now off the charts so the transition is going to be a bit rocky. Since everyone's nose has been glued to the trough for a long time now, economic collapse is the only way to tear down the fantasy. No amount of fairplay, debate, electioneering, or third party willfulness will ever get the job done. The goose was cooked a long time ago but lock down extremists sure made the party a whole lot bigger. We’re gonna need a lot more geese.
Totalitarianism is the only ism that matters now regardless of who is driving the train. The gold rush is on, the isms have abandoned their plows, grabbed their picks and are making a run for the mountain. As long as the entire population of the earth views this as a spectator sport, the result is in the bag.
