Contact Tracing Menace Meets Joe McCarthy

Joe McCarthy would be ecstatic to see hordes of people clamoring to voluntarily hand over their personal contacts to the Government. COVID contact tracing is literally a dream come true for Joe. He could have skipped the hearings and gone straight to the condemnations and crucifixions. We would all be so much “safer” now with all the communists eradicated. But what about the subversives? Don’t worry, J Edgar could have taken care of all the subversives with the keys to contract-tracing tech. The good news is  that J Edgar’s subversive sweep cast a wide net so he would have been able to cleanse the country of minorities, gays, non-christians and all the other undesirables that currently plaque society. We would all be so much “safer” now. We certainly could have been spared the embarrassment of the sixties cultural revolution since Nixon would have been downright giddy with access to voluntary contact tracing. No more dirty hippies and obnoxious war protesters to worry about. There is no doubt Viet Nam would now be our Asian equivalent of Puerto Rico (except without all the pesky Asians thanks to our endless unopposed bombing campaigns). Women would be thanking us now since they would not have been sent to the salt mines to earn a living and would be happily at home taking care of their husbands. Nixon could have made short work of feminism with a handy little tool like contact tracing. 

Now I know Joseph Goebbels is controversial but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. His shining example of usurping the media to promote Gestapo messaging maybe needs a few tweaks but the contact tracing establishment is better funded and off to an impressive start and looks to be leaving him in the dust at the moment. Comparing contact tracing to the Gestapo may seem extreme but the slippery slope is in place and easily supported by a society that is nearly immune to surveillance. Government surveillance was just recently cheered by extending the Patriot Act in the Senate, a panic surveillance program that is still fueled by the last Red Scare started in 2001. Does anyone feel “safer” because of the Patriot Act or even know what it is? I doubt it. Surveillance Capitalism is now a dominant part of our economy and washes over the brainwashed masses without the slightest objection. Younger generations are completely anesthetized by surveillance and voluntarily divulge every ounce of their personal information comfortably embracing it as a benefit. The dirty secrets of surveillance capitalism are slowly making a few people think twice. Putting down your phone for a few seconds and reading a history book might make you take a harder look at your imaginary benefits. 

Let’s suppose you do know something about history and think of yourself as cautious or even guarded. Take a look at your Facebook page and ask yourself how pure vanity made you publish your life story including sensitive information and ALL of your contacts. Other than Nigerian scammers, nobody gives a shit (your relatives already know they are your relatives). Contact tracing is presented as a benign savior that is perfectly safe and is just another arrow in the quiver of controlling the evil virus in the name of safety. It is none of the above. It is a government sponsored program to keep track of individuals' medical history and all of their contacts with other humans. Government intrusion always starts with fear and ends in tears. Half baked edicts from authoritarian power mongers never turn out well. Once you are on the list it is impossible to get off. What exactly is the purpose of contact tracing? There is no cure for COVID, there is no vaccine, there is no meaningful data being widely presented on the topic by anyone without a political or commercial agenda so why does the government need to enter your homes and keep track of your footsteps? Viruses have a mind of their own developed over millions of years and have no interest in pathetic human interventionism. Things that survive save lives, they stand the test of time. Knee jerk solutions to complex problems based on political dart throwing have no validity and do not make you “safer”. Doing something for the sake of it is essentially the same as doing nothing or is at least as likely to do harm. Vaccines are not produced overnight and if they are you should be very skeptical of them. Testing programs are not some sort of panacea and are forcefully promoted without the slightest reference to the point of testing. 

The dangers of surveillance are proportional to the degree of fear being used to justify it. You don’t have to venture further than the nearest mask nazi to figure out the degree of fear associated with COVID hysteria. I have no doubt that whatever horrific quarantine program the government comes up with based on contact tracing will be embraced by the trembling hordes like religion in a church. When the no-work, no-travel, home-arrest, and other “safety” measures are announced, they will be saluted or at least passively condoned and the inconsistencies and injustices will be cast aside by the mainstream information puppets. Whatever flaws that disproportionately target Blacks or Muslims or Gays will be shouted out by intrepid freedom fighters and extinguished by packaging dissent as a lunatic fringe of foil-hat whiners. Contact tracing is truly a case of the camel getting his nose under the tent and has the building blocks to make Joe McCarthy look like a rank amateur. 

What does all of this have to do with occupying the Eccles building? Everything actually. Rampant money printing is the cause of every excess you can point to. If the Fed could not manufacture free money that we do not have, no one would have ever considered the cruel and inane COVID lock down, there would be no infinity budget for capricious COVID responses that are largely designed to line the pockets of special interests like tech companies, government agencies, Universities and the Health Care industrial complex. 

If the Nazis and Supremacists and MAGA whack jobs are lining up to oppose mainstream COVID responses then the government must be doing something right? Sounds like a solid instinct but let’s not forget that even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Extremists like hiding behind the Constitution but that does mean the rest of us don’t get to hide behind the Constitution also. Who do you think is going to end up with all the nicely sorted tracing data when the shit hits the fan? It ain’t gonna be Mr. Rodgers.
