The game in pharma is how to get huge amounts of people to ingest huge amounts of chemicals for the lowest cost and get governments to pay tons of money for it. The old regime was floundering a bit until something called Biotechnology came along and gave birth to a new technology called Genetic Engineering which eventually perked things up because large amounts of dough can be charged for novel therapies for unmet needs. Biotech unveiled something called whole-protein replacement therapy which is basically the art of brewing proteins in beer and then purifying them. This was very important since traditional methods of harvesting proteins involved transmitting dangerous contaminants like HIV to patients like hemophiliacs that were dependent on proteins like factor VIII. A number of important successes in genetic engineering were achieved by companies like Genentech and Amgen and deserve to be recognized as tremendous achievements. The downside of protein therapy is that they have to be injected, brewing proteins in beer is very expensive, and there are not that many big dollar targets out there to strike gold on. The other hiccup is it is not too easy to convince governments to cough up the tens of thousands per dose needed for treatment. So once again, the poor pharma execs were running low on trillions and needed a new plan.
As Biotech busied themselves with macromolecules (large molecules like proteins), the pharma crowd was busy mansplaining their preference for small molecules (pills that are cheap and easy to make in large quantities) to their biotech counterparts when a funny thing happened on the way to the piggy bank. The technology tree was growing branches based on genetic engineering methods and all sorts of shiny objects started making an appearance. Things like peptides, nucleotides, PCR, sequencing, and synthesis were making great strides. They were just tools used by the biotech labs initially but early on they were imagined as possible pharmaceuticals in their own right. Peptides are strings of amino acids and Nucleotides are strings of nucleic acids and they are generally much shorter in length than their cousins such as Proteins, DNA, and RNA. The beauty of peptides and nucleotides is that they can be synthesized (manufactured) easily since they are basically just beads on a string and not very long strings at that. The early version of drug discovery for peptides was something called Combinatorial Chemistry. This was a method used to make huge numbers of peptides in pools (cheap and easy - no beer involved) with minor variations and then test them for their potential use as a drug. This was a very shiny object for quite a while but peptides turned out to be red-headed step children for a bunch of reasons and were not very good at lining anybody's pockets. Despite some recent successes in peptide technology, the Pharma Bros still needed a reason to drive their Ferraris to work so what to do, what to do?
The oddball, Kary Mullis was hanging out at Burning Man in the early days of Biotech (unconfirmed, kinda made that up) and stumbled on to a neat trick named PCR (polymerase chain reaction) that the entire biotech world quickly realized was a big deal and the powers that be, reluctantly recognized Dr. Mullis with their highest honor, the Nobel Prize. PCR was used as a tool in the lab to amplify DNA sequences and played a giant role in sequencing the human genome. PCR was not developed for diagnosing disease but a little company called Roche came along and bought PCR tech for 300M tamales and turned their sights on disease detection. PCR itself was not impressed and stubbornly remained a great tool for amplifying DNA but not so great for disease diagnosis (a topic for another history lesson) but 300M buys you a lot of fans so the PCR hounds were released on the world to help stamp out evil throughout the land.
Fear porn is pretty much the only product produced by mainstream media so of course that requires a steady stream of villains to placate the trembling masses and terrorism was getting so boring these days. What about a good old fashion pandemic? That’s the ticket. Take a little absurd predictive computer modeling, mix it with a little PCR, throw in a seasonal flu variant and let the good times roll. The no-such-thing as a casedemic, Casedemic was henceforth manufactured out of thin air by the fear peddlers and, much to the delight of the Pharma companies, gained instant Elvis scale notoriety. Despite being caught with their nucleotides down, Pharma was up for the task of busting out a Knight in Shining Armor in record time if only they could get a little help with the pesky nuisance called lawsuits. But wait, didn't our bought-and-paid-for D.C. lap dogs already handle that for us? Why yes, that has been handled already so it’s off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of billions of government funded injections begged for by the terrorized populations of the entire planet.
The Vaccine biz is pretty sweet because you get to place the goalposts wherever you want and call it a touchdown. It is nearly impossible to demonstrate efficacy (does it work) of a vaccine on a good day and even harder for a disease that is not particularly dangerous for the vast majority of the population. A pinch of lip service to safety, massive supply of fear porn, a few “studies”, cozy nods for emergency use from pharma-drenched regulators, and of course, government funding and you got yourself the cash-flow tsunami the US Treasury would kill for.
Probably not a coincidence that Bill Gates figures into this since he is the king of cash-flow based on a continuous stream of low-cost upgrades and new-version FOMO. Pharma has been trying really hard to get in on this with their Me Too* models of new drug development but couldn't quite get over the hump. Nucleotide sequences (RNA/DNA) are essentially the Windows tech they have been hoping for. Relatively low cost and easy to manufacture, nucleotide technology allows them to tweak the sequence with little effort and crank out infinite new versions on a whim. The only thing missing are the whims but never fear, the loyal propaganda corps is already busily hustling whims as we speak. Horrifying new strains and novel threats have already saturated the airwaves. All you need is a bogus computer-modeled fairytale of a nucleotide sequence for each disaster and you got yourself a new chemical to peddle. The icing on the cake is the fact that surface protein sequences are much smaller than the whole virus which adds greatly to the bottom line. A good plan is good but a great plan is better so why not start convincing the trembling masses that the new vaccines need a little help to keep you “safe” and roll out booster shots every six months or so just like their good buddy Bill has been pulling off for decades.
The Pharma fait accompli is in the bag at this point if you look at the numbers but “Mission Accomplished” speeches on Aircraft Carriers have been proven wrong before. One of the largest protest marches in the history of the UK on April 17 was completely silenced by mass media but the sentiment is not going away. The US and European vaccine adverse effects databases are swelling, a number of US states have done an about face on the phony lockdown narrative, anti-lockdown lawsuits are creeping along, the Bill of Rights is down but not out, PCR testing is slowly being exposed as the biggest chicken-little imitation in history, and there are still large numbers of sane people left in the world crying foul on every media produced fallacy and exaggeration out there. Mass media was already in the throes of irrelevance due to the demise of broadcast dominance but their true colors are now blazing and a surprising number of former loyalists are slowly realizing that fear porn is not news.
*Me too drugs are copies of existing billion dollar drugs with minor tweaks and rigged clinical trials to keep the patent scam rolling.
