Occupy Eccles Core Principles - Humans are not smarter than nature.

Core Principles:
  1. Humans are not smarter than nature and never will be.
  2. The thing world-leading scientists have the most in common - they are usually wrong. Real science is about skepticism not answers.
  3. Most people are not interested in information, they are interested in having their beliefs reinforced.
  4. Humans do not scale.

Humans are not smarter than nature and never will be.

Nature has evolved over billions of years into extremely complex nonlinear systems that cannot be managed or contained by humans. Humans have become interventionists due to the prevalence of Authoritarian propaganda. They have been infantilized and brainwashed by self-serving institutions into believing that all of their problems can be solved by benevolent authorities. Haphazard interventionism is just as likely to cause harm as it is to provide benefits.

The thing world-leading scientists have the most in common - they are usually wrong. Real science is about skepticism not answers.

I spent the last 30 years working with a lot of the top Scientists in the world (Genentech, Amgen, Big Pharma, Nobel Laureates, PhDs from MIT, Stanford, UCSF, Berkley, CalTech, Harvard, etc.) I have found that the thing these great Scientists have the most in common is that they are usually wrong. Real science is about skepticism not about answers. The best Scientists understand this and graciously invite scrutiny in order to learn (not likely to suffer fools though so bring your A game). The worst Scientists become defensive in the face of scrutiny.

Most people are not interested in information, they are interested in having their beliefs reinforced.

The world is ruled by identity politics now more than ever, especially in the U.S. The only test the authoritarian sheep apply to information is whether or not it fits the Democrat or Republican talking points. They have been trained by the media to align themselves with the latest click-bait hysteria designed to villainize and escalate by inciting fear and ignoring analysis and perspective. If you are vehemently supporting an issue you have never followed and have no knowledge of relevant details you are being manipulated. Fear is the tool, brainwashing is the accomplice. Random edicts imposed on populations by self-appointed experts and power-hungry authorities are not solutions, they are interventionist fodder fed to the cowering masses to maintain the culture of fear.

Authoritarian Propaganda: Republicans, Democrats, Communists, Fascists, Religious Zealots, Mass Media, Safety Nazis, Corporations.

Information Resources: Localists, Agorists, Anarchists, Libertarians, Legalization Activists, Justice Reform Activists, Anti Incarceration Activists, Antiwar Activists, Demilitarization of the Police Proponents, Community Organizers, Central Banking Reform Activists, Tax Protestors, Corporate Influence in Government Reform Activists, Immigrant Rights Activists, Surveillance Capitalism Opponents, Government Surveillance Opponents, High Quality Science (skepticism), Antifragility. Pretty much anyone that is being villianized by the party and corporate establishment.

Humans Do Not Scale:

Technology has outpaced humans' ability to contain it.
Human populations have outgrown their environment.

Humans are not capable of managing large-scale complex systems, largely because large-scale complex systems cannot be managed. High-tech militarization of the planet has caused a reign of terror that has unleashed carnage and destruction on world populations with little or no accountability. This is supported by the propaganda arm of industrialized countries that have established a flag-waving culture of war designed to glorify imaginary righteousness. The military industrial complex is a genie that cannot be put back in the bottle because humans cannot navigate or comprehend scale.

Environmental destruction is a consequence of scale that humans are incapable of comprehending. Massive perturbations of complex nonlinear systems cause dramatic change. Predictions of outcomes of massive perturbations are not feasible.
